Nominate a Home for Zions Bank’s Paint-a-Thon Service Project
Annual project benefits low-income elderly, disabled, and veteran residents in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming.
To prepare for the 32nd annual Zions Bank Paint-a-Thon service project, we’re inviting the public to nominate up to half of the 35 homes we plan to spruce up with a fresh coat of exterior paint.
Our Paint-a-Thon service project benefits low-income elderly, disabled, and veteran residents in Idaho, Utah and Teton County, Wyoming. Typically, homes are referred to Zions Bank by city and state housing agencies, aging services, community organizations and local churches. This year, we’re also inviting the public to nominate qualified homeowners.
To qualify for consideration, homeowners must meet federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) income guidelines, detailed below in the “Home Selection” and “Disclosures” sections.
Disclosures
Nomination period ends April 15, 2024. Nominees or nominators cannot work for Zions Bank, Zions Bancorporation or Sherwin Williams, or be related to any of their employees. The nominated property must be structurally sound and show no signs of rot or other forms of decay that would require remediation. Property must be free from asbestos and lead. Homes with vinyl siding are ineligible. Nominee must be a permanent Utah, Idaho or Wyoming resident for the past three (3) years. The nominee will also agree to allow Zions Bank to use information given in the nomination and acceptance process at Zions’ discretion on the bank’s website and though other media outlets. Painting is performed by volunteers who are not required to have formal training, professional licensure or bonding.
Home Selection
A committee within Zions Bank’s Community Development Department will select up to 20 homes to paint from eligible nominees. Selection criteria will include, among other considerations:
- Location: Nominated properties must be located in communities where Zions Bank employees work. See ineligible counties below.
- Homeowner’s status as an elderly, disabled and/or U.S. military veteran.
- The quality of the project and need evidenced by nominator’s description of the home’s condition.
- Ability for volunteers to complete the project within one week.
- Homeowner’s income based on Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines, with an annual income limit that is 80% or less than the area median income.
Following are 2023 HUD income limits, based on the number of household residents, for Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming.

The selection committee will also consider other relevant criteria in selecting properties from eligible nominations. This service project, including the nomination and selection process, is subject to all applicable laws and regulations. Nominators and nominees for selected properties will be notified by May 15. Ineligible Counties in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming
Zions Bank’s Paint-a-Thon is performed by employees and their families who live near home painting projects in communities where Zions Bank operates financial centers. Due to travel limitations of the bank’s participating employees, homes in the following Idaho, Utah and Wyoming counties will not be eligible for nomination or consideration: Utah counties of Beaver, Daggett, Juab, Morgan, Piute, Rich or Wayne; Idaho counties of Adams, Benewah, Boise, Boundary, Bonner, Butte, Camas, Caribou, Clark, Clearwater, Custer, Elmore, Franklin, Fremont, Gem, Idaho, Jerome, Kootenai, Lewis, Lemhi, Lincoln, Minidoka, Owyhee, Oneida, Power, Shoshone, Teton and Valley; Wyoming counites of Albany, Big Horn, Campbell, Carbon, Converse, Crook, Fremont, Goshen, Hot Springs, Johnson, Laramie, Lincoln, Natrona, Niobrara, Park, Platte, Sheridan, Sublette, Sweetwater, Uinta, Washakie and Weston.
